Warner Bros. Announces New DC Game From NetherRealm

Today, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment & NetherRealm Studios unveiled Injustice: Gods Among Us, a superhero fighting game set in the DC Universe.

Characters spotted in the trailer include the Flash, Batman, Harley Quinn, Wonder Woman, Lex Luthor, Superman & Solomon Grundy.

The Injustice character roster is split into two factions: Power & Gadget. Depending on a character's class, they will be able to interact with the environment in different ways. Environmental hazards are set to play a major role in the game, adding another level of strategy to each character match-up. According to NetherRealm's Ed Boon: "You're really going to want to take care where you are, in which background, with which character." Batman might be able to slam Wonder Woman's head into a parked car, for instance, while Wonder Woman is able to slam a parked car into Batman's head. It is assumed that the Power characters will include Superman & Wonder Woman, while the Gadget characters will have Batman & Harley Quinn.

Also, the trailer clearly shows the Flash barely avoiding a massive icicle, which invites speculation that Flash's attacker might be Captain Cold, Icicle, Killer Frost or Mr. Freeze. This also is a strong indicator that Injustice will have a great deal more combatants than the six shown.

Injustice: Gods Among Us will launch on the XBox 360, PS3 and Wii U in 2013.
